Sri Lanka, chasing a challenging target of 387, were bowled out for 331, with England’s Liam Dawson claiming four wickets to help his side defend a formidable total. The result gave England a winning end to their campaign, while Pakistan and Sri Lanka had already secured their places in Saturday’s final.
England posted 386-5 in their allotted 50 overs after Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first. Ben Duckett led the batting effort with an outstanding 167, providing the foundation for England’s imposing total.
Tom Banton contributed 74 runs, while captain Harry Brook added 44 as England maintained an aggressive approach throughout their innings. The substantial target left Sri Lanka needing a strong batting performance to keep their hopes of victory alive.

Sri Lanka made a determined attempt to chase down the total, with Kusal Mendis scoring 89 and Pavan Rathnayake producing a brilliant 118. Mendis and Rathnayake helped keep the chase alive, while Avishka Fernando contributed 48.
However, England continued to find crucial breakthroughs as the required scoring rate increased. Joe Root dismissed Mendis, while Dawson removed Dasun Shanaka for four, further weakening Sri Lanka’s middle order. Sahan Arachchige scored 30 and Janith Liyanage made 27, but their efforts were insufficient to take Sri Lanka across the finish line.
Dawson finished with four wickets, while Sonny Baker claimed two as England restricted Sri Lanka to 331 all out. Rathnayake’s century provided the highlight of Sri Lanka’s chase, but his dismissal with the score at 329-8 effectively ended the contest.
Sam Curran subsequently dismissed the final batter to seal England’s 55-run victory. Full, straight and the stumps are rattled! Sam Curran wraps up a victory for England #ENGvSL | #Cricket.
