JI sit-ins against petroleum levy, inflation enter 20th day

As part of the nationwide campaign, the party is holding a major public meeting in Mingora, Swat, where preparations have been completed for an address by JI Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman. A large number of party workers and supporters have gathered at the venue, which has been decorated with green and white flags.

Meanwhile, JI sit-ins are continuing at more than 15 locations across the country, including Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Chitral. The protests are primarily focused on the petroleum levy and inflation, with the party demanding relief for consumers facing rising living costs.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said the sit-ins will continue until negotiations with the government's committee produce results and the party's demands are accepted. He maintained that talks with the government delegation would continue, but the protest movement would not be called off merely because negotiations had begun.

“Talks with the government delegation are one thing, but the sit-ins will not end until people get their rights,” the JI chief said. The latest protests come as the government and JI have opened negotiations over the petroleum levy and other economic issues affecting consumers.
