PRA collects Rs54.8b in first two months

The improved performance follows the establishment of Special Units and the Large Taxpayer Commissionerate, a PRA spokesperson said, adding that the collection represents the best July-August figure in the authority's 13-year history. The latest numbers build on a record-breaking fiscal year for the authority.
PRA collected Rs368 billion in taxes during FY26, exceeding its revenue target and posting the highest annual collection since its establishment – a 36% increase over the Rs270 billion collected in FY25. On the back of that performance, the provincial government has set a revenue target of Rs528 billion for FY27.
A meeting on monthly revenue targets was held under the chairmanship of PRA Chairman Moazam Iqbal Sipra, who said tax compliance, enforcement and digital tax administration in Punjab would witness further significant improvement. He said digital monitoring and direct payment mechanisms have enhanced transparency and contributed to increased revenue generation.
