The cabinet meeting, chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, approved extending the commission’s term until October 15. The cabinet was informed that the commission has so far conducted extensive proceedings and recorded statements from dozens of witnesses.
A spokesperson for the Sindh chief minister said the commission had been given additional time to complete the investigation and formulate its recommendations. The judicial commission was formally constituted through a notification issued on August 24 and began its proceedings on August 27.
The Sindh Home Department had initially directed the commission to complete its proceedings within one month.
