Zardari has postponed a planned two-day visit to France and will instead return home, the sources said. His departure had prompted speculations about tensions within the government, but Prime Minister's Adviser Rana Sanaullah dismissed reports that Zardari had left Pakistan in anger.
Sanaullah also denied that Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi had travelled to persuade the president to return. Speaking to a news channel, Sanaullah said meetings between Naqvi and Zardari were a routine matter, as the interior minister frequently met the president.
"Why should we object to Mohsin Naqvi meeting Asif Zardari? " he said. Sanaullah said Zardari had travelled with his family, while Naqvi had since returned to Pakistan and met officials at the Prime Minister's House.
