KKARACHI —Pakistan’s stock market extended its gains on Wednesday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index rising 830 points to close at 172,200, crossing the psychologically important 172,000-point level. The index remained positive during the trading session, reaching an intraday high of 172,762 points and a low of 171,843 points.
Trading activity remained substantial, with shares of 571 listed companies changing hands during the session. Of these, 262 companies recorded gains, while 196 closed lower. Market turnover stood at around Rs26 billion, with approximately 770 million shares traded during the day.
The broad-based increase reflected stronger buying activity across the market, although a significant number of stocks also ended the session in negative territory. The KSE-100’s close at 172,200 points marked another positive session for the benchmark, keeping investor attention focused on market momentum and developments that could influence trading in the coming sessions.
