    KKARACHI The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a mixed trend on Wednesday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index fluctuating between gains and losses amid ongoing regional tensions involving the United States and Iran. The benchmark KSE-100 Index opened on a positive note and showed early recovery, climbing to an intraday high of 173,174.48 points.

    However, the gains could not be sustained as the index later slipped into negative territory. It fell to 172,599.30 points, down 42.86 points, or 0.02%, from the previous close of 172,642.16 points.

    The market then staged another recovery, with the KSE-100 Index gaining 154 points from its earlier level to reach 172,796.56 points, highlighting the volatile nature of the trading session.

    A day earlier, the benchmark KSE-100 index continued with bearish trend on Tuesday, losing 993.92 points, a negative change of 0.57 percent, to close at 172,642.16 points against 173,636.08 points recorded in the previous trading session.

    The ready market witnessed a trading volume of 722.624 million shares, compared to 679.188 million shares traded in the previous session, while the traded value surged to Rs 27.942 billion from Rs 23.692 billion. Market capitalisation decreased to Rs 19.295 trillion from Rs 19.434 trillion recorded a day earlier.
