Lady Gaga apologises after Haus Labs faces backlash over bronzer shade range

“Lady Gaga has apologised to beauty creator Golloria after her cosmetics brand Haus Labs faced backlash over the shade range of its upcoming Sun Dipped Bronzing Veil. Golloria, who is known for highligh…”
Golloria, who is known for highlighting a lack of inclusivity in beauty products, criticised Haus Labs in May after testing three of the darkest shades of the unreleased bronzer. The product was initially scheduled to launch with six shades, which the creator argued did not adequately cater to deeper skin tones.
Haus Labs subsequently asked Golloria to remove her post because the product was still under embargo. Gaga has now acknowledged that the way the company handled both the criticism and the planned shade range was wrong.
In a statement shared through Haus Labs, Gaga said the company wanted to "take full responsibility for our mistakes" and admitted that choosing to launch the bronzer with only six shades was "the wrong decision".

The singer also addressed the request for Golloria to remove her post, describing the response as "unkind" and saying it was not how a creator or customer should be treated. Following the backlash, Haus Labs paused the launch of Sun Dipped Bronzing Veil and returned to product development.
The brand has now expanded the planned range from six shades to 11. Gaga directly apologised to Golloria and the wider community, saying the creator was "100% right" and promising to personally ensure that the same situation does not happen again.
"Thanks to her powerful voice, we decided to pause the launch and go back to the lab to ensure we had a truly inclusive shade range from day one," Gaga said in the statement.
The expanded Sun Dipped Bronzing Veil will launch with 11 shades, with Haus Labs saying the new options were developed to cater to a wider range of skin tones. Golloria has previously praised Haus Labs for its complexion products, making her criticism of the bronzer particularly notable.
Her feedback has also contributed to wider conversations about shade representation within the beauty industry. The new launch date for Sun Dipped Bronzing Veil has not yet been announced.
